Ray Allaire - Feels Like Home
By. Vonna Rose Harrison - AngryCountry.com Staff Writer

Introducing Ray Allaire:

Ray was born into a musical family; his parents recorded for the Capital Records label in the fifties and his two older brothers took Ray under their wing at a very early age. Ray was encouraged, as a child, to play every instrument that he could get his hands on. He was also encouraged to have a diverse background stylistically.

Ray’s first paying gigs were as the live sound engineer for his brothers’ touring band “Axis” in the early eighties. He eventually made it to the stage, joining his brothers as the band’s percussionist and background singer, and later, as the band’s bass player. For the next few years the band traveled the East Coast, Midwest and Canada.

Eventually, Ray decided to try his luck as a free-lance bassist, guitarist and vocalist. He played live with various bands and landed a lot of session work at local recording studios. Most notably singing demos for the late Tony Romeo (best known for the Partridge Family hits) and singing “A Song for My Daughter” which has become the number one most requested father/daughter dance in the country.

Other studio work included jingles for Foxwood Casinos and other local companies, including assisting with artists such as Eddie Money, Little Feat, the Steve Morse Trio, The Radiators and others.

Ray moved to Florida five years ago to be close to his family where he has worked as a solo artist on Sun Cruz Casinos and at many local clubs, earning himself a strong and loyal local following.

He has honed his writing skills over the years and has developed a strong portfolio of original music. Ray has poised himself to reach his many goals as a musician, vocalist, performer and prolific writer.

Album Review: Ray Allaire – Feels Like Home

TRACK ONE – Feels Like Home

Title track about personal rediscovery and embracing God and his love. Wonderful message presented with high energy and a catchy rhythm.

TRACK TWO - Nevermind

This track is about the “should I stay or should I go” scenario and the desire to stop wasting time and get on with your life. I love Ray’s vocal delivery on this one which includes cool guitar riffs.

TRACK THREE – Only One Around

Beautiful, slow ballad about finding happiness with that one special person. I can see this one becoming a classic couple’s song.

TRACK FOUR – Kristine

Touching tune about proclaiming love for a special girl, definitely a perfect love song for all the guys with a loved one name Kristine. Sweet!

TRACK FIVE – Cowboy Walk

My favorite tune on the record! This one is about being proud to be an American and garnered my highest marks on rockin’ it out! Ray shows his versatility and ability to deliver a solid groove with outstanding vocals.

TRACK SIX –
Make This House A Home

Beautiful, peaceful ballad about God, family, and what makes a home. Ray’s sensitive side shines through on this one.

TRACK SEVEN – Morning Ride

This tune is about living life day to day and wondering what life is going to bring. An instantaneous hit with this writer. I especially love when Ray hits the high notes.

TRACK EIGHT – Wasn’t Born Country

Traditionalist will love this track about not being born country but discovering your heart is. Ray is true to country on this tune and I could see him singing this on the Grand Ole Opry and receiving a standing ovation!

TRACK NINE – Six Times At Bat

Get out your dancing boots as this one is a fast, moving, two-stepping tune about love and baseball! Ray hits a home run with this track!

TRACK TEN – 10 Times

Captivating ballad about the depths of love, support and devotion. Ray delivers a passionate, soulful presentation on this tune.

Bonus Track – Thousand Miles of Road

Rockin’ track about the need to get away from it all. Orange County Choppers could use this one as their theme song!

Authors NOTE: The first time I heard Ray Allaire on 3c Continuous Cool Country I was intrigued and set out to find more about this amazing artist. I was extremely pleased to find his entire CD packed full of songs that showcase not only his versatility, but his personality as well. Rocking tunes mixed in with traditional ones, Ray thoroughly proves he can do it all. Often in today’s commercial empire you find an artist bending to the will of the corporate bigwigs who want to make changes and mold them into the standard cookie cutter cowboy. It is with my sincere hope that Ray Allaire sticks to his guns and delivers as he has done here. With a solid foundation of performing, songwriting and genuine love of his craft, Ray is on the right track to making his mark in country music! AngryCountry wishes to extend thanks to Randall Addington of Cowboy Walk Productions for providing bio and background information.
